Our Client in the Cleveland area is looking for a Systems Analyst on a 6 month contract to hire basis. This candidate will perform a variety of advanced business and database analyses in many business areas; works with customers to understand and assist them in addressing advanced business and operational issues and problems; frequently performs project leadership responsibilities for assigned projects. You will be responsible for working with customers to translate business and operational requirements into designs and specifications for workable information technology solutions. Analyze and document business and work processes, information needs and reporting requirements, evaluate process improvements and develop systems solutions to meet requirements. Develop, communicate and coordinate applications development and other information technology services to meet requirements and specifications.
Responsibilities: • Designs or leads a project team in developing new or enhanced systems and processes; evaluates design and technology alternatives; evaluates vendor product packages and determines their fit with customer requirements and implements the one with the best fit; recommends hardware, network and/or software characteristics and requirements; writes system requirement and/or specification documents. • Stays abreast of developments in customer areas to anticipate emerging information management, operations and university needs. • When serving as project leader: defines project scope and boundaries; performs critical path analyses and sets project priorities; develops project task lists and time estimates; performs cost benefit analyses; establishes project metrics; oversees and coordinates completion of project tasks to meet time, quality and cost expectations; meets with customers to review project status and resolve development and/or implementation issues. • Analyzes systems interface requirements, coordinates the exchange of data with other agencies and the integration and migration of data between databases; works with the PeopleSoft Security administrator and recommends applications security protocols and privileges. • Drives organizational change taking full account of obstacles, opposition, and differing stakeholder priorities. • Translate between customers and ITS staff to ensure all parties understand, in their terms, systems needs, requirements and technology parameters and constraints. Understands problems from a broad, interactive perspective. Able to develop and implement solutions that combine information in new ways.
Supervisory Responsibility: • May supervise work of project team members when assigned as project lead. • Provides mentoring for functional areas, IT consultants and project analysts. • May also provide supervision for outside consultants and student workers. • When functioning as a project team manager, ensure project team has appropriate training and development
Qualifications: • 5 – 8 years experience • 3 – 5 years PeopleSoft experience preferred • A Bachelors degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Computer Science or a related field. • Masters degree preferred
Essential Skills: • Principles and methods of systems analysis, including business process and entity relationship analysis tools and methods. • Database theory, design rules and development practices, including data modeling, data flow and entity relationship analysis. • Demonstrate thorough understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and utilize the ability to lead efforts in implementing life cycle practices • Technical leader with a high degree of knowledge in the overall field and recognized expertise in specific areas; problem-solving frequently requires analysis of unique issues/problems without precedent and /or structure. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining desired results. • Demonstrates exceptional mentorship, leadership, managerial, and facilitation skills. • Sets and meets realistic deadlines. Forecasts changes and communicates current and projected issues. • PeopleSoft Query, SQL experience. • Basic database theory, design rules and development practices, including data modeling, data flow and entity relationship analysis. • Has a high level of analytical ability to lead customers through changing business processes. • Understands and applies the analysis of functional requirements to the development of systems proposals, specifications and recommendations for efficient, cost effective systems and technology solutions. Identifies and selects appropriate tools, data, and analysis techniques to diagnose problems and develop solutions. • Communicates clearly and effectively to diverse audiences of technical and non-technical personnel orally and in writing • Writes and presents reports, contracts and/or proposals for internal and/or external audiences. Interprets other viewpoints and assimilates them into work processes. Formally transfers technical or administrative knowledge to others through writing and/or conducting training sessions.
